In the Open Meeting on March 22, 2018, the Federal Communications Commission (the “Commission” or “FCC”) adopted a Second Report and Order and Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“Second Report and Order” or “Second FNPRM”) (FCC 18-35) aimed at increasing the flexibility in the use of Consumer Signal Boosters. Specifically, in the Second Report and Order, the Commission removes the personal use restriction for Provider-Specific Consumer Signal Boosters, while in the Second FNPRM, the Commission proposes further actions aimed at enhancing the usefulness and effectiveness of Wideband and Provider-Specific Consumer Signal Boosters.
On April 18, 2018, the Commission published in the Federal Register the Second Report and Order (“R&O”) and Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“FNPRM”) in the Signal Boosters proceeding, setting the effective date and comment dates.
The adopted rules are effective May 18, 2018.
Comments on the FNPRM are due May 18, 2018.
