FCC Adopts Public Notice Establishing 24/28 GHz Auction Procedures

On August 2, 2018, in the Open Meeting, the Federal Communications Commission adopted the Public Notice (the “Notice”) (FCC 18-109) establishing application and bidding procedures for Auction 101 (28 GHz band spectrum) and Auction 102 (24 GHz band spectrum) (AU Docket No. 18-85). The Notice establishes that the 1.55 GHz of spectrum available in these auctions will be licensed on a geographic area basis, with 28 GHz licenses to be offered in two 425-MHz blocks by county, and 24 GHz licenses to be offered in seven 100-MHz blocks by Partial Economic Area (“PEA”).

The Short-Form Application filing window for both Auction 101 and Auction 102 opens September 5, 2018 at 12:00 noon ET and closes September 18, 2018 at 6:00 pm ET. Bidding in Auction 101 is scheduled to begin November 14, 2018.
