On October 22, 2018, the FCC released a Public Notice announcing it has adopted the 800 MHz Band Report and Order and Order from the upcoming October Open Meeting agenda and has subsequently dropped the item from the agenda for consideration. The Report and Order opens up new channels in the 800 MHz Private Land Mobile Radio (“PLMR”) band, eliminates outdated rules, and reduces administrative burdens on PLMR licensees.
The amendments to the Commission’s Part 90 rules will be effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register, except for the modified and new sections requiring OMB approval, which will become effective following OMB review and approval.
