On November 27, 2018, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (“Bureau”) released a Public Notice seeking comment on WISPA and Utilities Technology Council’s (collectively, “the Petitioners”) request for waiver of the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (“CBRS”) Transition Deadline. The Petitioners seek additional time for grandfathered wireless broadband licenses operating in the 3650-3700 MHz band to complete the transition of their operations to the Part 96 CBRS rules.
The transition periods for 3650-3700 MHz band licensees end between April 17, 2020 and January 8, 2023, depending on the grant and expiration dates of each individual license. Petitioners ask that the transition window for all grandfathered licensees in this band be extended through January 8, 2023.
