WCB Releases Public Notice on Launching Lifeline National Verifier in Five States

Updated: Jan 2, 2019

On December 13, 2018, the Wireline Competition Bureau released a Public Notice announcing that the National Lifeline Eligibility Verifier (“National Verifier”) will fully launch in five states – Hawaii, Idaho, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and South Dakota – and Guam, effective January 15, 2019.

Eligible Telecommunications Carriers (“ETCs”) in these locations will be required to use the National Verifier to make eligibility determinations for all customers applying for Lifeline service and must cease using legacy eligibility processes for prospective Lifeline subscribers. Customers will also be able to check their eligibility for Lifeline service using the customer portal at CheckLifeline.org. Both consumers and providers will be able to mail Lifeline program forms and documentation to USAC for review. Additionally, USAC will continue to provide outreach and training for ETCs during the launch to ensure support during the transition to the National Verifier.
