FCC Reminds VoIP Providers of Annual CPNI Reports Deadline

On February 28, 2019, the Enforcement Bureau released a Public Notice reminding all telecommunications and interconnected VoIP providers to file their annual Customer Proprietary Network Information (“CPNI”) reports for 2018 by tomorrow, Friday, March 1, 2019 (EB Docket No. 06-36).

The Notice includes: (1) Frequently Asked Questions; (2) the CPNI Certification Template; (3) and the text of the CPNI rules. The submission procedures have not changed from last year’s instructions (and as discussed below). The Notice reminds covered carriers and providers that failure to comply with the CPNI rules, including the annual certification requirement, may subject them to enforcement action, including monetary forfeitures of up to $201,340 for each violation or each day of a continuing violation, up to a maximum of $2,013,399.
