PSHSB Requests Provider WEA Commitments

On June 5, 2019, the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (“Bureau”) sent letters to five participating Commercial Mobile Service Providers requesting that they each commit to comply with the November 30, 2019 Wireless Emergency Alerts (“WEA”) geo-targeting deadline (PS Docket No. 15-91). Additionally, the Bureau requests information, in writing, concerning each provider’s progress, including the specific measures that the provider has undertaken – and will undertake – to meet the WEA deadline. These commitments are to be publicly filed with the Commission by June 28, 2019 via ECFS, however providers are permitted to file redacted versions on a confidential basis pursuant to Section 0.459 of the Commission’s rules.

The letters were sent to: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon.
