On August 1, 2019, the Commission published in the Federal Register OMB approval of certain rule amendments adopted in the November 2018 Report and Order (“Order”) in the Revisions to the Hearing Aid Compatible Mobile Handsets proceeding, specifically the amendments to Sections 20.19(e), (h), and (i) of the Commission’s rules which address wireless service provider record retention, website posting, and certification filing requirements (WT Docket No. 17-228).
The effective date of these provisions is August 1, 2019, and compliance is required as of September 3, 2019. The Section 20.19(i) service provider certification filing requirement for the calendar year 2018 must be completed between the compliance date and no later than 30 days after the compliance date (Thursday, October 3, 2019). The Wireless Bureau recently released a Public Notice announcing the September 3, 2019 opening of the filing window for these certifications, and outlining these updated requirements for providers. The filing portal will close at midnight EDT on October 3, 2019.
