FCC Announces Petition for Reconsideration in the PR/USVI Fund

On February 6, 2020, the Commission released a Public Notice (“Notice”) announcing that a Petition for Reconsideration (“Petition”) was filed in The Uniendo a Puerto Rico Fund and the Connect USVI Fund (“PR/USVI Funds”) proceeding (WC Docket Nos. 18-143, 10-90). This petition was filed on behalf of Virgin Islands Telephone Corporation dba Viya (“Viya”) on January 21, 2020.

Viya asks the Wireline Competition Bureau (“Bureau”) to revise its December 2019 Public Notice, announcing location counts and reserve prices for the PR/USVI Fund Stage 2 fixed support competitive proposal process, to reflect USVI location information that is accurate with the Commission’s prior direction in the Stage 2 Order. Specifically, the Petition states that the USVI location count is inaccurate, as it includes a mathematical error that artificially and inaccurately doubles the total business location count and fails to reflect the substantial reduction in locations resulting from recent hurricanes.

Oppositions to the Petitions must be filed within 15 days of the date of publication of this Notice in the Federal Register.

Replies to oppositions must be filed within 10 days after the opposition deadline.
