FCC Releases Public Notice on PR/USVI Fund Stage 2 Competition Procedures

On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, the Commission released a Public Notice (“Notice”) establishing the procedures for the Uniendo a Puerto Rico Fund and the Connect USVI Fund Stage 2 competitive process (“Stage 2 Competition” or “Competition”). The Stage 2 Competition will award up to $691.2 million annually to service providers that commit to offer voice and broadband services to fixed locations in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands (“USVI”) (together, the “Territories”).

The Wireline Competition Bureau (the “Bureau”) will release the Application Form and instructions, and announce the submission deadline in a public notice following approval from the Office of Management and Budget. The Bureau “anticipates” that the application window deadline for all Stage 2 proposals will be 30 days from the release of the public notice.
