FCC Form 477 Due March 2, 2020

This is a reminder that the Form 477 Broadband Report is due March 2, 2020. Form 477 must be submitted by: (i) facilities-based providers of broadband connections to end-user locations; (ii) providers of wired or fixed wireless local exchange telephone service; (iii) providers of interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service; and (iv) facilities-based providers of mobile telephony services. The data supplied must be current as of December 31, 2019.

Form 477 must be filed electronically, and should be submitted using the 477 interface at https://apps2.fcc.gov/form477/login.xhtml. Users can access the updated guide for this interface here. You can also find the instruction manual for completing Form 477 here.

In August 2019, the Commission adopted changes to the Form 477 data collection, which will first be reflected on the March 2020 and August 2020 submissions. For the upcoming March filing (of data as of December 31, 2019), mobile broadband providers: (1) no longer need to report availability by spectrum band; (2) can report availability in four technology categories rather than eight; (3) must provide additional details on voice and broadband data; and (4) no longer need to report a list of all census tracks in which broadband service is advertised and available to actual and potential subscribers. A flowchart of the relevant changes can be accessed here. There will be additional changes to the August filing for data as of June 30, 2020 (and going forward) concerning the reporting of broadband and voice subscription.

Further instructions, tutorials and information on using the Form 477 electronic filing system updated for filings as of December 31, 2019 are available at https://www.fcc.gov/general/form-477-resources-filers.
