FCC Extends Reply Comment Deadline for 5..850-5.925 GHz NPRM

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the Commission released a Public Notice (“Notice”) announcing the Office of Engineering and Technology (“OET”) has extended the reply comment deadline to April 27, 2020, on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“NPRM”) in the Use of the 5.850-5925 GHz Band proceeding (ET Docket No. 19-138). The Commission published the NPRM in the Federal Register on February 6, 2020, establishing the comment deadline of March 9, 2020, and reply comment deadline of April 6, 2020.

On March 20, 2020, the American Association of State High and Transportation Officials (“AASHTO”) and the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (“ITS America”) sought a 90-day extension of the reply comment filing deadline due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The OET concluded that the current circumstances warranted a 21-day extension of the reply comment deadline so that parties could use the time to develop the record to the fullest extent possible in the proceeding.
