FCC Seeks Comment on One-Ring Scam NPRM

On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, the Commission published in the Federal Register the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“NPRM”) initiating the Protecting Consumers from One-Ring Scams proceeding, seeking comment on how the Commission can implement provisions of the TRACED Act that require it to take additional steps to protect parties from one-ring scams (CG Docket No. 20-93).

As a reminder, the NPRM seeks comment on how the Commission can cooperate with federal and local government entities, as well as with international partners and consumers, to implement the TRACED Act directives, how providers can block calls associated with one-ring scams, and how the Commission can work with providers and international gateway providers to address and stop one-ring scam calls.
