FCC Releases Wireless Priority Services NPRM

On July 17, 2020, the Commission released the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“NPRM”) aimed at updating the Commission’s rules for priority services programs, which was adopted in the July Open Meeting (PS Docket No. 20-187).

The adopted item does not make substantive changes to the proposals presented by the FCC, but does add in a few additional clarifying questions surrounding these proposals, mostly concerning the application of the GETS (Government Emergency Telecommunications Service) model to TSP and WPS (a proposal for an “Alternative Approach”) (¶¶ 63-65).
