On August 20, 2020, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (“Bureau”) released an Order extending the August 31 deadline for eligible C-Band earth stations to submit lump sum elections until September 14, 2020 (GN Docket No. 18-122, IB Docket No. 20-205).
The extension was granted in response to The Society of Broadcast Engineers’ request that the deadline be extended to September 30, 2020. The Bureau declined to extend the deadline past September 14 due to the approaching September 22 short-form application deadline for Auction 107, and the need for satellite operators to know which stations will select lump sum payments as they prepare to transition their operations into the 4.0-4.2 GHz band.
The Order recognizes that the granted relief is similar to the alternate relief separately requested by ACA Connects, but does not address the merits of the ACA Connects Stay Petition.
