OMB Approves 2017 Updated Wireless Licensing Renewal/Discontinuance Rules

On October 1, 2020, the FCC released a Public Notice announcing the Federal Register publication of the long-awaited OMB approval of certain rule amendments adopted by the 2017 Second Report and Order, which implemented a unified regulatory framework for Wireless Radio Services.

 

Accordingly, rule amendments regarding (1) renewal standards for site-based and geographic licenses and related renewal safe harbors and showings; (2) geographic partitioning and spectrum disaggregation; and (3) discontinuance of service/operations are effective as of September 28, 2020.
