FCC Releases Fact Sheet on 12 GHz Band NPRM

On December 29, 2020, the FCC released a Fact Sheet for a draft Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“NPRM”), circulated by Chairman Pai, which, if adopted, would seek comment on whether to allow terrestrial flexible use (including mobile services) in the 12.2-12.7 GHz band.  No tentative conclusions are included in the NPRM, instead the FCC seeks comment on possible methods for assigning new flexible use rights while protecting incumbent users, and whether accommodating new services in the band would be cost effective.  The NPRM has not yet been adopted by the FCC and would require votes of support by a majority of the Commissioners.
