On May 4, 2021, the FCC published in the Federal Register the Report and Order (“R&O”) adopting the American National Standards Institute’s (“ANSI”) 2019 Standards for hearing aid compatibility, thereby setting the effective date. The R&O is effective June 3, 2021, except for the amendments to Sections 20.19(f), (h)(1), and (i), which set forth the updated labeling and disclosure requirements for hearing aid-compatible handsets (subsection (f)), the updated website listing requirements (subsection (h)(1)), and the updated reporting requirements (subsection (i)). The effective date of these rules will be announced in a future notice published in the Federal Register after the FCC has received OMB approval for the new collection requirements outlined therein.
