FCC Releases R&O Establishing Streamlined Robocall/Spoofing Reporting Process

On Thursday, June 17, 2021, the FCC released a Report & Order (“R&O”) in the Implementing Section 10(a) of the Pallone-Thune Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence Act (TRACED Act) matter (EB Docket No. 20-374).  The R&O was unanimously adopted at the June Open Meeting without any significant changes from the Draft R&O.  The R&O establishes a streamlined process for private entities to submit information about unlawful, unwanted calls.  Specifically, the R&O directs the Enforcement Bureau to create and monitor an online portal on the FCC’s website where private entities will be able to submit information about suspected robocall and spoofing violations.  Individual natural persons and public entities will not be permitted to utilize the new portal.  The new portal will not affect the informal consumer complaint process managed by the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, which individuals may still utilize to report suspected robocall and spoofing violations
