Welcome back to TLP’s Weekly Wireless Wrap-Up, your weekly update on the wireless telecommunications regulatory landscape, important wireless decisions, and more! This week, the FCC released its Second Call Blocking Report and the Agenda for the July Open Meeting. Here’s your wrap up:
FCC:
- Late last Tuesday, June 29, 2021, the FCC released its Second Call Blocking Report. The Report summarizes the current call blocking technologies used by voice service providers, third-party analytic companies, and device manufacturers and discusses the effectiveness of these tools, including in eliminating false positive blocks. - Last Wednesday, June 30, 2021, the FCC published the Third Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the Improving 911 Reliability and Outage Reporting matters in the Federal Register. Comments are due on or before July 30, 2021 and reply comments are due on or before August 30, 2021. For more information, see our post here.
- Yesterday, July 6, 2021, the FCC announced the effective date of portions of the 2020 Application Fee Schedule Report and Order. The updated schedule of charges for Experimental Radio Services and the updated schedule of charges for applications and filings for Media Services will be effective July 15, 2021. - Also yesterday, the FCC released the Agenda for the July Open Meeting, which is scheduled for July 13, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Since the release of the Tentative Agenda, one item was added to the Agenda, a Second Report and Order and Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on combatting contraband wireless devices.
