Of note this week, the FCC released a notice seeking to refresh the record in the 70/80/90 GHz band proceeding. Here’s your wrap-up:
FCC:
- Last Wednesday, October 6, 2021, the FCC published a notice announcing an effective date of October 6, 2021 for several provisions of the Second Report and Order in the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act matter. For more information, see our post here.
- Last Friday, October 8, 2021, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau released a Public Notice seeking to supplement the record on the 70/80/90 GHz Band Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. The Notice seeks comment on several additional issues related to the proceeding that have arisen since the initial NPRM was released last year. Congress:
- Last Thursday, October 7, 2021, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation held a hearing entitled “The State of Telehealth: Removing Barriers to Access and Improving Patient Outcomes.” The hearing examined the importance of access to telehealth services, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on receiving access to care, and the critical role of access to broadband in the public health response. Witnesses included Sterling N. Ransome, Jr., FAAFP President at the American Academy of Family Physicians, Sanjeeve Arora, Founder of Project ECHO and Professor of Medicine at the University of New Mexico, Deanna Larson, President at Avel eCare, and Commissioner Brendan Carr.
