Good afternoon from Washington, DC! Below you will find this week’s Weekly Wireless Wrap-Up, your update on the wireless telecommunications regulatory landscape, important wireless decisions, and more! It’s been a lighter week as we head towards the holidays next week, but of note, the FCC released the November Open Meeting Agenda and the Senate Commerce Committee held a hearing on Commissioner Rosenworcel’s nomination for Chairwoman of the FCC. Here’s your wrap-up:
FCC:
- Late last Wednesday the FCC released the Agenda for the November Open Meeting, which is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 AM and can be viewed at fcc.gov/live and on the FCC’s YouTube Channel. The Commission is scheduled to consider three items, including a Second Report and Order requiring covered text providers to support text messaging to 988 and a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing an Enhanced Competition Incentive Program for Wireless Radio Services. A fourth item was originally listed on the agenda regarding FM Radio Directional Antenna Verification, but was deleted from the Agenda yesterday in this notice. For more information and to view a copy of the Agenda, see our post here.
Congress:
- This Morning, the Senate Commerce Committee held a hearing on Acting Chairwoman Rosenworcel’s appointment to be Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission. Questions primarily focused on her work with updating the FCC’s maps, expanding broadband to rural communities, and ensuring affordable broadband for telehealth, education, and other essential services. To view the hearing, see the Committee’s website here.
