FCC Announces Effective Date of Certain Provisions of Robocall Orders

On February 8, 2022, the FCC published in the Federal Register notice that the additions of § 64.1200(k)(10) and (n)(2) adopted in the Fourth Report and Order and revisions to § 64.1200(k)(10) adopted in the Order on Reconsideration have been approved by OMB and will be effective March 10, 2022.

As a reminder, section 64.1200(k)(1) requires terminating voice service providers blocking calls on an opt-in or opt-out basis to provide, upon request by a subscriber of a particular number, a list of calls intended for that number that the voice service provider or its designee has blocked.

Section 64.12(n)(2) established an affirmative obligation that voice service providers effectively mitigate illegal traffic when notified of such traffic by the Enforcement Bureau (“EB”).  Upon receiving notice from the EB, the provider is required to report back with specific information about their investigation and response to the investigation.
