April 6, 2022 Weekly Wireless Wrap-Up

Good afternoon from Washington, DC!  Below you will find this week’s Weekly Wireless Wrap-Up, your update on the wireless telecommunications regulatory landscape, important wireless decisions, and more!  Here’s your wrap-up:

FCC:

  • Last Thursday, the FCC released the Tentative Agenda for the April Open Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, April 21, 2022. The Commission is tentatively scheduled to consider five items, including a Notice of Inquiry on improving receiver performance and a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on strengthening the effectiveness of Wireless Emergency Alerts.  For more information and to view a copy of the Agenda, see our post here.
  • On Monday, Chairwoman Rosenworcel released two announcements related to staffing changes in her office. First, the Chairwoman announced that her Acting Chief of Staff, Travis Litman, would be departing her office in the near future. Second, she announced that Priscilla Delgado Argeris, who previously worked at Meta Platforms, Inc., will serve as her Chief Legal Advisor, and that Narda Jones will join as her Chief of Staff from  the White House where she was the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Office of Science and Technology Policy.  For more information, see our post here.
  • Last week, the FCC published in the Federal Register the Report and Order and Declaratory Ruling for adopting new rules and clarifying existing rules regarding communications services in multiple tenant environments, thereby setting compliance dates. Congress:

  • Last Thursday, the House Committee on Energy & Commerce held a hearing titled “Connecting America: Oversight of the FCC.” Witnesses included Federal Communications Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel and Commissioners Brendan Carr, Geoffrey Starks, and Nathan Simington.  For more information and to view the recorded hearing, see the Committee’s website here.
