FCC Seeks Comment on Ericsson Petition for Waiver

On August 8, 2022, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and Office of Engineering and Technology released a Public Notice seeking comment on a Petition for Waiver filed by Ericsson.   Ericsson seeks a waiver of two of the Commission’s rules (Section 27.53(n) and Section 2.947(f)) to allow the manufacture, marketing, sale, and use of multiband radios by licensees in the 3.45 GHz and 3.7 GHz bands.  Specifically, Ericsson requests a limited waiver to permit the devices to exceed the 3.45 GHz band OOBE limits when the device is operating between 3.7-4.0 GHz.   Ericsson also requests that the FCC clarify that the waiver of the above rule will serve as the appropriate individual component testing limit under the Commission’s rules or otherwise grant a conforming waiver of the composite device rule.
