On August 25, 2022, Chairwoman Rosenworcel announced that she was publicly sharing the responses received from the nation’s top 15 mobile carriers to the Chairwoman’s request for information regarding their data retention and privacy policies and practices. The announcement notes that she also asked the Enforcement Bureau to launch an investigation into mobile carriers’ compliance with FCC rules that require carriers to fully disclose to consumers how they are using and sharing geolocation data.
The Chairwoman also stated that the FCC is making it easier for consumers to file complaints and raise concerns with the FCC regarding how their carrier is handing private data. Consumers can now file complaints or share their privacy concerns in the FCC’s consumer complaint center.
