February 23, 2023 Weekly Wireless Wrap-Up

Good afternoon from Washington, DC!  Below you will find this week’s Wireless Wrap-Up, your update on the wireless telecommunications regulatory landscape, important wireless decisions, and more!  Here is your wrap-up:

  • CONNECTIVITY NEEDS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS
    • On February 17, 2023, the FCC released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“NPRM”) seeking comment on several rules to implement the Safe Connections Act of 2022, which provides statutory support for specific measures to benefit survivors of domestic violence and abuse. The NPRM was adopted at the February Open Meeting.  For more information and to view a copy of the item, see our post here.
  • MARCH OPEN MEETING
    • Yesterday, the Chairwoman announced that there will be several big ticket items on the March Open Meeting agenda, including items related to: robocalls and robotexts; increased collaboration between terrestrial mobile network operators and satellite service providers; updates to prison phone rates; and updates to the FCC’s equipment testing standards. The tentative agenda is expected to be released later today.
