BROADBAND DATA COLLECTION
- On 4/3, the Broadband Data Task Force issued a Public Notice announcing that it had released training videos providing guidance to mobile wireless internet service providers who are responding to Broadband Data Collection challenges. ROBOCALLS
- On 4/3, the Enforcement Bureau issued its first Initial Determination Order (“Order”) against a voice service provider, One Eye, LLC, for failing to comply with the FCC’s call blocking rules for gateway providers. If One Eye fails to respond to the Order, all immediate downstream providers will be required to block and cease accepting traffic received directly from One Eye 30 days after release of a Final Determination Order. ROBOTEXTS
- On 4/7, the FCC published in the Federal Register the Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on additional proposals to implement robotext blocking. Comments are due by May 8, 2023 and reply comments are due by June 6, 2023. For more information and to view a copy of the Notice, see our post here.
- On 4/11, the FCC published in the Federal Register the Report and Order adopting rules relating to the blocking of robotext messages that are highly likely to be illegal. The Report and Order is effective May 11, 2023; compliance, however, is delayed until the FCC announces OMB has approved the new rules. 988 OUTAGE REPORTING
- On 4/7, the FCC published in the Federal Register the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“NPRM”) seeking comment on the 988-outage reporting rules. Comments are due by May 8, 2023 and reply comments are due by June 6, 2023. For more information and to view a copy of the Notice, see our post here.
SUPPLEMENTAL COVERAGE FROM SPACE
- On 4/12, the FCC published in the Federal Register the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on the Supplemental Coverage from Space framework.
