APRIL OPEN MEETING
- This morning, the FCC held its April Open Meeting. The FCC considered seven items, including a Policy Statement updating the Commission’s approach to spectrum management such that the Commission will consider both transmitter and receiver components of wireless systems, an Order and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would revise the FCC’s international section 214 application process, and a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on rules to increase the accessibility, performance, and functionality ow Wireless Emergency Alerts. HEARING AID COMPATIBILITY
- On 4/14, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau released an Order granting a six month extension of the June 5, 2023 transition to the 2019 ANSI standard to certify handsets. The extension will allow the Bureau time to consider the ATIS Petition for Waiver of the volume control testing methodology contained in the 2019 ANSI standard. SUPPLEMENTAL COVERAGE FROM SPACE
- On 4/18, the Space Bureau and Wireless Telecommunications Bureau released a Public Notice seeking comment on filings by Space X and T-Mobile that seek permission to establish supplemental coverage from space for T-Mobile’s terrestrial network using SpaceX satellites.
