On June 5, 2023, the FCC released a Public Notice announcing that it is rescheduling its annual Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS) refresher for filers to July 6 and 7, 2023 due to the ongoing DIRS activation for Typhoon Mawar. The refresher will include a simulated exercise with provider participation and is intended to (1) help ensure that communications providers, including broadcast, cable, satellite, wireless, and wireline providers, can access and file in the DIRS system; (2) train new employees to become familiar with the DIRS reporting process; and (3) update DIRS contact information.
Providers wishing to participate should email [email protected] and [email protected] by July 26th with the following information:
- Name of the provider;
- Names of all participants from the provider;
- Email and phone numbers of all participants from the provider; and
- Specific geographic areas (counties, state) that the provider would like to have included in the disaster area for this exercise (optional).
