July 6, 2023 Weekly Wireless Wrap-Up

Good afternoon from Washington, DC!  We hope you all had a great 4th of July! Below you will find this week’s Wireless Wrap-Up; your update on the wireless telecommunications regulatory landscape, important wireless decisions, and more!  Here is your wrap-up:

  • JULY OPEN MEETING AGENDA
    • On 6/29, the FCC released the Tentative Agenda for the July Open Commission Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 10:30 AM. The Commission is scheduled to tentatively consider four items, including an item on 988 Suicide & Crisis Hotline resiliency .   • TELEPHONE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT
    • On 6/29, the FCC published in the Federal Register the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on strengthening consumer consent for robocalls and robotexts under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”). Comments are due on or before July 31, 2023. Reply comments are due on or before August 14, 2023. For more information and to view a copy of the notice, see our post here.
  • BROADBAND DATA COLLECTION
    • On 7/3, the FCC Broadband Data Task Force (“Task Force”) announced that the third Broadband Data Collection (“BDC”) filing window for submitting required broadband availability and other data as of June 30, 2023 opened on July 3, 2023. The Task Force also announced the release of new June 2023 Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric and invited bulk challenges to the updated Fabric.  For more information and to view copies of these announcements, see our post here.
