- FCC OPEN MEETINGS
- On 9/28, the FCC released the Tentative Agenda for the October Open Meeting, scheduled for October 19, 2023 at 10:30 AM. The Commission is scheduled to consider a number of significant items, including a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on proposed net neutrality rules, a Report and Order on improving Wireless Emergency Alerts to make them more accessible and increase public awareness, and an item on the 6 GHz band that will allow very low power devices to operate in two sub-bands. - 988 LIFELINE
- On 9/28, Chairwoman Rosenworcel announced that she was encouraging wireless carriers and industry associations to take steps to identify and develop a 988 georouting solution for nationwide wireless networks. For more information and to view a copy of the announcement, see our post here.
- HEARING AID COMPATIBILITY
- On 9/29, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau released an Order granting the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions’ (“ATIS”) request for a limited waiver of the FCC’s hearing aid compatibility rules with respect to the volume control technical standard that handset manufacturers use to certify handsets as hearing aid-compatible under the 2019 ANSI standard. - STIR/SHAKEN
