December 7, 2023 Weekly Wireless Wrap-Up

Good afternoon from Washington, DC!  Below you will find this week’s Wireless Wrap-Up; your update on the wireless telecommunications regulatory landscape, important wireless decisions, and more!  Here is your wrap-up: 

  • OPEN MEETING
    • On 12/6, the FCC released the Agenda for the December Open Meeting, scheduled for December 13, 2023 at 10:30 AM. The Commission is tentatively scheduled to consider eight items, including a Second Report and Order, Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, and Waiver Order on blocking illegal robotexts, a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on achieving 100% wireless handset model hearing aid compatibility, and a Report and Order updating the FCC’s data breach notification rules.  For more information and to view a copy of the Agenda, see our post here.
  • CONGRESS
    • On 12/5, the House Energy and Commerce Committee Communications and Technology Subcommittee held a hearing entitled “Oversight of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.” Assistant Secretary Alan Davidson was the sole witness. The hearing explored NTIA’s implementation of policy related to various issues, including its broadband programs, spectrum, FirstNet, and wireless innovation.  For more information and to view the hearing, see the Committee’s website here.
