Good afternoon from Washington, DC!  Below you will find this week’s Wireless Wrap-Up; your update on the wireless telecommunications regulatory landscape, important wireless decisions, and more!  Here is your wrap-up:

  • MAY OPEN MEETING AGENDA
    • On 5/16, the FCC released the Agenda for the May Open Meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 10:30 AM. The Commission is tentatively scheduled to consider six items, including a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would strengthen requirements and oversight relating to the telecommunications certification bodies and measurement facilities that participate in the FCC’s equipment authorization program.   • JUNE OPEN MEETING TENTATIVE AGENDA
    • On 5/16, the FCC released the Tentative Agenda for the June Open Meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10:30 AM. The Commission is tentatively scheduled to consider four items, including a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would increase the security of the information routed across the internet and promote national security by requiring broadband providers to report on their progress in addressing vulnerabilities in the Border Gateway Protocol.   • NORS & DIRS
    • On 5/15, the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau released a Public Notice regarding a Petition for Reconsideration filed by Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (“ATIS”) regarding the Network Outage Reporting System (“NORS”) and Disaster Information Reporting System (“DIRS”) rules adopted by the Commission in January 2024.   • WEA
    • On 5/13, the FCC published in the Federal Register the Public Notice (“PN”) seeking comment on specific mechanisms to implement multilingual Wireless Emergency Alerts (“WEA”), thereby setting the comment and reply comment dates.  Comments are due June 12, 2024; replies are due July 12, 2024.   • CONGRESS
