PSHSB Seeks Comment on IoT Labeling Program Processes

On July 18, 2024, the FCC published in the Federal Register a Public Notice from the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (“PSHSB”) seeking comment on the implementation of the Cybersecurity Labeling for Internet of Things Program (“IoT Labeling Program”).  The FCC delegated certain responsibilities to PSHSB with respect to the establishment and administration of the IoT Labeling Program.   Accordingly, in the Public Notice, PSHSB seeks comment on:

  1. the format of Cybersecurity Label Administrator (CLA) and Lead Administrator applications;
  2. filing fees for CLA applications; criteria for selecting CLAs and the Lead Administrator;
  3. CLA sharing of Lead Administrator expenses;
  4. Lead Administrator neutrality;
  5. processes for withdrawal of CLA and Lead Administrator approvals;
  6. recognition of CyberLABs outside the United States;
  7. complaint processes;
  8. confidentiality and security requirements; and
  9. the IoT registry.

Comments are due on or before August 19, 2024. 

Reply comments are due on or before September 3, 2024.
