On March 4, 2025, the FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau (WCB) released a Public Notice announcing the comment and reply comment deadlines for the Text-to-988 Georouting Privacy Public Notice (988 Notice), following its publication in the Federal Register. The 988 Notice seeks feedback on privacy concerns related to how text messages to 988 are geographically routed. This effort is part of the ongoing implementation of the National Suicide Hotline Act of 2018, ensuring privacy protections as the FCC develops georouting rules for text-to-988 services.
