  • INTERNET OF THINGS CYBERSECURITY LABELING PROGRAM
    • On 3/15, the FCC released the Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking adopting a voluntary cybersecurity labeling program for wireless IoT products. The item was adopted at the March Open Meeting. For more information and to view a copy of the item, see our post here.
  • SUPPLEMENTAL COVERAGE FROM SPACE
    • On 3/15, the FCC released a Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking adopting a Supplemental Coverage from Space (“SCS”) framework, which will enable satellite-to-device connectivity.   • CONGRESS
    • On 3/21, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation held a hearing entitled “Spectrum and National Security.” The hearing focused on how a coordinated and comprehensive approach to domestic spectrum policy is critical to US national security.  Witnesses included Monisha Ghosh, Professor of Engineering at University of Notre Dame, Mary Brown, Executive Director at Wi-Fi Forward, Clete Johnson, Senior Fellow of the Strategic Technologie Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Dian Rinaldo, Executive Director at Open RAN Policy Coalition, and Harold Furchtgott-Roth, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for the Economic of the Internet at the Hudson Institute.  For more information and to view the hearing, see the Committee’s website here.
