FCC Releases Public Notice on Updated MF-II Eligibility Map

On May 22, 2018, the Rural Broadband Auctions Task Force (“Task Force”) with the Wireline Competition Bureau and the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (“Bureaus”) released a Public Notice with an updated version of the map of presumptively eligible areas for Mobility Fund Phase II (“MF-II”) support.

The updated map reflects three adjustments to underlying coverage and subsidy data. First, to adjust for inconsistencies between census data and wire center boundary data, the updated version incorporates subsidies for small portions of certain wire centers that cross into an adjacent state, thereby increasing presumptively eligible areas in additional states. Second, the updated map is reprocessed to account for corrected subsidy assignments in Kentucky and a portion of Tennessee. Third, 4G LTE coverage data is revised for South Carolina and Oklahoma.

The updated map is available on the Commission’s website here: www.fcc.gov/maps/mobility-fund-ii-initial-eligible-areas-map/
