FCC Releases Public Notice Announcing Section 230 Petition Deadlines

On August 3, 2020, the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (“Bureau”) released a Public Notice announcing the relevant deadlines for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (“NTIA”) Petition for Rulemaking (“Petition”), which asked the Commission to initiate a rulemaking proceeding to clarify Section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934 (“Section 230”). Parties may file statements opposing or supporting the Petition by September 2, 2020 and replies to statements opposing or supporting the Petition no later than 15 days after the filing of such a statement.
