FCC Publishes Rip and Replace Covered List

On March 12, 2021, the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (“Bureau”) released a Public Notice announcing the publication of the list of communications equipment and services (“Covered List”) that are deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States or its citizens.   In accordance with the mandates contained in the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019 and the FCC’s Reports and Orders implementing the act, the Covered List contains equipment or services produced by the following entities: (1) Huawei Technologies Company, (2) ZTE Corporation, (3) Hytera Communications Corporation, (4) Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Company, and (5) Dahua Technology Company.  The inclusion of these entities on the Covered List also extends to subsidiaries or affiliates of the entities, as well as to telecommunications or video surveillance services provided by the entities or using their equipment.  In addition to the Public Notice, the Covered List will be available on the FCC’s website at: www.fcc.gov/supplychain/coveredlist.  As a reminder, participants in the reimbursement program and ETCs that receive USF funding are required to remove equipment and services on the Covered List within 60 days of the list’s publication.
