FCC Releases 800 MHz Band Reconfiguration Order & NPRM

On Monday, October 28, 2019, the Commission released the Order and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“Order” and “NPRM”) in the Improving Public Safety Communications in the 800 MHz Band proceeding, which was adopted in the October Open Meeting. The Order aims to streamline the rebanding process for 800 MHz licensees and accelerate the closing dispute process. The NPRM seeks comment on eliminating the annual audit of the rebanding program, and relieving the 800 MHz Transition Administrator of the responsibility to review and approve amendments to Frequency Reconfiguration Agreements.

The Order will be effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.

Comments on the NPRM are due 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.

Reply comments are due 45 days after publication in the Federal Register.

There were no substantive changes made to the adopted version of the item from the previously circulated draft version.
